No filter photography – flowers au naturel
To begin with, I would like to thank Lara for her kindness in asking me to guest post on her blog.
My name is Gözde Derelli and I am from İzmir, Turkey. I am working as a white-collar in a firm, therefore I spend my days in the office. During my commutes from home to work and vice versa – and also at weekends – I “stalk” flowers on the way using my IPhone 6. No filter photography is my style.

Well, I also have a professional camera, but I think it suits me better to catch the natural beauty around me with my * iPhone 6, in the rush of my daily life. In the future I might begin using my professional camera as well, who knows ? But for the moment, I am just an amateur photographer. 🙂
Escaping from the rush – finding solace in natural beauty
I have loved the beauty of nature since I was a child so when I became interested in photography, an idea came to mind: “Why not taking photos of the flowers that I tend to overlook because of the everyday rush?” That motivated me to especially take macro shots, and closely observe the natural beauty within each flower, while trying to capture their unique details.
Like I said, I do not use any filters for my Instagram photos. My main goal is to show flowers the way my eyes see them, with “#nofilter”. Again, I believe it suits my amateur photography style better and lets my work come across as natural.
Before posting my pictures on Instagram. I upload them to an application that provides me with information about the names, family and properties of the plant. Thanks to this application, I learned a lot about flowers and became quite knowledgeable about this topic.
One with flowers – dreaming of my future garden
Each flower amazes me, basically, but so far my favorites are bougainvillea (in each color), magnolia, elegant zinnia, wax begonia, lavender, sunrose, each type of cacti, Mexican petunia and blue jasmine… To be honest, my list would probably go “to the infinity and beyond”, so it is a tough one to make.
Because of my work commitments, I only have a little army of different types of cacti at home. I wish I could have a beautiful garden, where I could take care of each of them, but apparently with this list getting longer each day, I should have a huge garden.
A nature enthusiast – a special thanks to everyone who believes in me
After taking up this hobby, I began to realize, enjoy and be amazed by the beauty and the greatness of the nature surrounding me. I would like to thank all of my friends and kind followers for their lovely, encouraging feedback, messages and comments. They truly make me happy and enthusiastic about this new hobby of mine.
I will keep observing nature, enjoying its beauty and sharing my work with those who want to see the world through my eyes.
Have a beautiful day.
