My second life – amazing people through my photography

My second life – amazing people through my photography

July 15, 2019 44 By Rebecca

Hello everyone,

My name is Rebecca and I have been living in Strasbourg (France) for a long time… I have a wonderful family life, but since my children grew up, I have started to take some time for myself. I have been taking long walks for years. I walk for hours, with music in my ears, and I look around, One day I discovered Instagram and that was the beginning of my second life…

I loved looking at pictures, but I had never thought to take them myself. My husband had a huge Canon Camera and was the amateur photographer at home. Despite this, I decided to start taking some shots and sharing them on social networks.

A big surprise – people loved my pictures!

Initially, I photographed everything and anything: the field in front of my parents’ house, the chocolate cake I would make on Sundays, even the bar where I would drink a beer! During my walks, I began to take a closer look at the wonders of my city. I always knew that they were there, I always saw them but I had never fancied photographing them.

For several months now, I have been sharing photos every day, and I have been blown away by my followers’ love, people who show me their support and are appreciative of my work. The more the days pass, the more I want to find that rare pearl, that rare angle, that rare composition, a small thing that will amaze both the people who know my city and those who are unaware of what Strasbourg has to offer.

Of course, I also want to amaze the people who do not know it and entice them to come and visit it.

Bringing out my artistic side – Thanks Strasbourg!

My style has changed a lot since I started, it has definitely refined… I do not have a real photographer’s personality (not yet at least), nor do I pretend to be a photographer. I have always had an artist’s soul. When I was younger, I used to write a lot. I did not think that photography would become for me a way to express myself and to bring out my creativity…

I mainly walk in the city, it is my main source of inspiration. Sometimes, I feel like there are no more gems that I can uncover, but at the end of the day, Strasbourg never fails me. I eventually discover things that I had not seen before… Strasbourg is a city rich in culture, there are so many events and so much life that each trip becomes an adventure.

Immortalizing my feelings – a toast to my second life!

Now, when my eyes are looking at a landscape, and they see joy, sadness or melancholy, I feel the need to immortalize that moment This is the only way for me to immortalize my feelings either. Photography enables me to do that; it is the means, the key, the voice of my eyes.

I have no particular preferences, I really like everything about Strasbourg: street Art, architecture, churches, cathedrals, giant trees, flowers, the river, ducks, old houses, bars, people, old shops, old stones. I see beauty everywhere I go, there is so much to see, there is so much to keep in my soul and in my heart.

I am so proud that I have even been asked for permission to distribute my photos. It can only become more popular and more people get to know my creations. This is just the beginning, I hope. I love my second life and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me.

Thank you Lara for this opportunity, thanks everyone for reading my post.
